Richmond Hockey Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Hamish Imrie as the new Head Coach for our Elite Men’s team.
Hamish joins Richmond from his position as Head Coach of the full-time elite programme at Edinburgh University, where over the past 3 seasons he has proven to excel in developing young players and feeding them into the U21 and Senior international programmes as well as pushing at the top end of the Scottish Premier league.
In addition to his coaching credentials, Hamish has over 40 international caps for Scotland. His premier league playing experience includes stints at Beeston, Harvestuder in Germany, Royal Antwerp in Belgium and Schaerweijde in Holland.
In his new role, Hamish will be responsible for leading our Elite Men’s team alongside his new assistant David Goodfield who takes control of the 2nd XI group. Hamish will also be adding to our Junior Coaching lineup as we look to further develop our expanding junior setup and providing support to our Women's coaching team.
Hamish shared his enthusiasm about joining Richmond Hockey Club, stating, “I’m really excited to start my role at Richmond as we enter our 150th Anniversary season and to continue the incredible journey set out by the group and the whole club over the past few seasons.”
Andrew Denye, Men’s Club Captain, and Royce Waters, Director of Hockey, expressed their excitement about Hamish’s appointment, stating, “We will always seek to make progressive appointments to our coaching lineup and of a number of candidates Hamish stood out as having the skills and track record of developing young players at Edinburgh. We look forward to supporting him and M2’s Coach David Goodfield in what we feel is an incredibly exciting coaching lineup to take the whole group to the next stage. Go well Hamish and David.”
We invite all members and supporters of Richmond Hockey Club to join us in welcoming Hamish Imrie to our community. We are excited about the future and look forward to a successful season ahead.
Stay tuned for more updates and join us in supporting our Elite Men’s team as they embark on this new journey under Hamish’s guidance.
